Generally, we recognize two sorts of cruelty: that resulting from stupidity which, never reasoned, never rationalised, turns the thoughtless individual into a ferocious beast. This cruelty can afford no pleasure, since he who is inclined to it is incapable of discrimination. Such a creature’s brutalities are seldom dangerous; it is always a simple matter to find protection against them. The other species of cruelty, fruit of extremely delicate nature; the limits to which it drives them are determined by intelligence and acuteness of feeling; this delicacy, so finely wrought, so impressionable, responds best of all, and without delay, to cruelty; it awakens in cruelty, cruelty liberates it. How few are able to comprehend these distinctions, how few who even sense them! Nevertheless, they exist.

a collective hallucination
…likewise any one may cure the tooth-ache with the stone that is in the head of the toad; also, if any one shall catch a living frog before sun-rise, and he or she spits in the mouth of the frog, will be cured of an asthmatic consumption;—likewise the right or left eye of the same animal cures blindness; and the fat of a viper cures a bite of the same. Black hellebore easeth the head-ache, being applied to the head, or the powder snuffed lip the nose in a moderate quantity. Coral is a well-known preservative against witchcraft and poisons, which if worn now, in this time, as much round children’s necks as usual, would enable them to combat many diseases which their tender years are subjected to, and to which, with fascinations, they often fall a victim.
/ Henry Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy, written in 1533, is a well-known and respected text among modern magicians, and contains this typical-of-the-time pearl of wisdom regarding the natural healing properties of certain substances.
there is no clearer, more distinct demonstration of how reality unfolds from consciousness than living on this planet. so polarised, so ridiculous and brilliant all at the same time that eventually - humanity either have to acknowledge and understand and move forward or it’ll crush ya. (and that is what’s happening on this planet.) to some degree, the amount of polarization that one sees how things have collapsed down into opposites; so often - of peace and violence, of love and hate, of zero and one, of black and white, of whatever. examining that tonality as regards to society, of civil liberties, of personal freedoms, and so on. (those are just human constructs.) no one has any rights, or liberties, or freedoms and yet everybody has rights, liberties and freedoms…
you’re here, you’ve showed up on earth, good luck!

“We work in the dark, We do what we can, We give what we have, Our doubt is our passion, And our passion is our task, The rest is the madness of art”
The entirety of this virtual world is being constructed in the present moment, it is crucial to pay attention to this moment. Sounds simple; one might think its done all the time, but humans actually pay attention very little to what is going on in the present experience. The human mind is constantly swinging into the future and the past, and like a pendulum it passes through the present moment barely enough for us to keep our bearings. Not saying that we should cut off our sensitivity to the full range of experience and live ordinary life in some sort of eternal present. But in order to get beyond some of the embedded habits of the mind, in order to get free of some of the distortions and confusions to which we are subject, directing ourselves to attend very carefully and very deliberately to the process by which we construct past and future experience in the present. And this is largely what illumination is all about. It is accessing the present moment, and it involves cultivating the intention to attend to what is happening right now. Left to its own inclinations, the mind would much rather weave through some thought pattern that makes us feel good about ourselves, and take away from any kind of insight that might threaten our ideas about ourselves. The mind needs to be carefully and gently encouraged through constant workings to look deeply at what is unfolding in this immediate present.
